Michelle MacFadyen - Saturday, April 18, 2009
Burton Raffel, world renowned translator of Old English literature (Beowulf, Canterbury Tales, Shakespeare), stops in for his weekly loaf of Dakota bread.  Jane is a big fan!  Read Mr. Raffel's Bio.

Michelle MacFadyen - Wednesday, April 01, 2009

The Life of Popeye Bread

Michelle MacFadyen - Tuesday, March 03, 2009
This pictorial depicts the life of Popeye Bread.  We are baking it on Thursdays.
It is loaded with spinach, chunks of Parmesan Cheese, red bell peppers, & cayenne!

1. Dallas dumps the dough on the kneading table.

 2. Jude weighs the dough for each loaf.

3. Amy & Dallas shape the dough before it proofs.

4. J.P. pulls the loaves from the oven.

5.  There it is!

Thanks to Jason Cohen for these awesome photographs.
Check out his other work.

We love to give FREE TOURS!

Michelle MacFadyen - Monday, February 09, 2009
These are just a couple of photos from our last tour.  We talk to the kids (& adults!) about the benefits of whole grains and how to read labels in the grocery store.  They get to check out the mill where we grind our wheat and look inside the huge oven and lots of other equipment. Of course, we always get our hands dirty with a baking project!

A special customer!

Michelle MacFadyen - Thursday, January 22, 2009
Mr. Philip Gould, renowned photographer, was in today to pick up some bread.
Obviously, he didn't take this photo.  Someone on staff did.  Can you tell?

Here's what it looked like!

Meatball Sandwich Casserole

Michelle MacFadyen - Friday, November 07, 2008
If you happened to see us on Passe' Partout, here's a copy of the recipe that was highlighted.

It's a great way to get your kids eating whole grains if they aren't so happy with whole grain pasta.

A Visit From The First Lady

Michelle MacFadyen - Thursday, November 06, 2008
We received a visit from the First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush.  This is not a joke!  Here's the photo to prove it!   The story goes... she was not able to eat at the party she had just attended so she requested that they stop at our store for some bread!  In case you're wondering, she purchased a loaf of our flagship Honey Whole Wheat, our Farmhouse Hamburger Buns and our Baker's Special for the Day, Popeye Bread.
